100th Post > Giveaway and TWD: French Yoghurt Cake with Marmalade Glaze

Another week has passed since last weeks Tuesdays with Dorie. Liliana of
My Cookbook Addiction picked the tasty French Yoghurt Cake with Marmalade Glaze. I absolutely loved this recipe, so did my friend and her boyfriend when I surprised them with the mini-bundtcakes when I visited her last Friday.

I have no idea where my head was when I went groceryshopping or while I was baking, I made lots of mistakes: I forgot to buy a lemon and had no other citrusfruits, I did however have some lemon juice in the houseand squeezed some of that into the mixture. Also I accidentally put baking soda in the mixture instead of baking powder... Well they still tasted great!!

Now it was time to pick a pan for the cake, but I couldn't find my cake pan anywhere, so I decided on making mini-bundtcakes and bite-size cupcakes. The mini-bundtcakes took about 30 minutes in the oven, the bite-size cupcakes needed 15 minutes. I topped the cakes with a lovely mango-passionfruit jam.

The recipe made 12 mini-bundtcakes and 18 mini cupcakes. I figured that 2 bite-size cupcakes are about the same size as 1 mini-bundtcake, so the entire recipe was 21 servings, this comes down to 3 WW Points per mini-bundtcake or 3 WW Points per 2 bite-size cupcakes. Not bad at all!!!

Todays post is actually extra special: it is my 100th post!!! So I decided to celebrate this by giving one person a chance to win something really special: a cookbook filled with traditional Dutch recipes. Whomever wins gets to pick one of the following books, offcourse they are both written in English. To get some more information about the books simply click on their titles and on the site choose 'Inkijkexemplaar". Here are your picks:

Dutch Cooking - the new kitchen: a surprisingly seductive cookbook with all the traditionally Dutch dishes our parents used to make, adjusted to this time: less fatty and with lots of fresh vegetables. The book is filled with recipes for the best stews, soups, vegetarian dishes and salades. The lovely old-Dutch dessert have also been included!! (Paperback)

In Dutch Cooking Today the best of yesterday is combined with some of today's most tempting foodstuffs. Here are all the classic recipes but in a leaner form and given delicious new twists with 'new' and readily available ingredients. This cookery book reflects and celebrates all the pleasure and unexpected variety of Dutch cooking today. (Hardcover)

So, here's how to win: let me know which cookbook you would prefer to receive and why. The deadline for this giveaway is Friday, March 20th midnight Dutch time! Be sure to check in on Saturday, March 21st when I will announce the winner!

Your mini bundt cakes are too cute! Just the right size -- I want one! Congrats on 100 posts!!! I think that both of those cookbooks look wonderful.

Jayne zei

Your mini cakes are adorable!

Jessica zei

Those mini bundt cakes are so cute . . . I really want a mini bundt cake pan now. I love that you made mini cakes out of this recipe.

My dad is half Dutch . . . I think that makes me a quarter Dutch. So I'd probably pick the traditional book (but they both look wonderful) with the idea that I could learn to make some traditional Dutch recipes.

chocolatechic zei

Even with Mr. Murphy along for the ride, your cakes look fabulous.

As for the book, I'd love the second one, because I love traditional recipes.

BAKE-EN zei

Love the mini bundt cakes. They turned out so pretty!

Wow, 100 posts; that's very impressive! If I were lucky enough to win the giveaway, I would love Dutch cooking in the new kitchen. Your description along with "lovely old dutch desserts" really peaked my interest! Having been to the Netherlands twice, I'm really interested in their food, especially pastries! Last time I went I swear I gained 10 pounds in 4 days eating pastry after pastry :) Overall, I'm extremely interested in all types of cooking (afterall, I'm an American french Canadian that works at a middle eastern bakery!), so I would love to add dutch cooking and baking to my knowlege base :)

Mary Ann zei

Your glaze sounds delicious and your mini-bundts are so cute!
Interesting, my dad spent 2 1/2 years in the Netherlands and so I am familiar with some of the foods that he would prepare for us when I was a kid. I would love either cookbook, but I think Dutch Cooking would be great.

I love your bite-size servings. They look great. And only 3 WW points? Even better.

If I win, I would like the New Kitchen for it's emphasis on fresh ingredients, vegetables, and lots of vegetarian dishes. But both really sound good.

Leslie zei

These look amazing but with mango passionfruit jam!?! Awesome! Thanks for calculating the points...not as bad as I feared.

Liliana zei

I LOVE your mini bundt cakes! What a great idea. Hmm...I have the same pan so next time I will also be making the mini bundt cakes.
Although I love the cover of the New Dutch Cooking, I would prefer the Dutch Cooking Today. The cover reminds me of the time I visited Amsterdam.

Claudia zei

I love the mini bundt cakes - also (whew) love that a mistake here and there doesn't kill the product! (I am famous for last minute substitutions) Congrats on 100th post!

Jacque zei

Oooh, nice job on the bundt cakes, and bonus points for figuring out the WW points. It's always nice to be able to make informed snacking decisions.
