Unfortunately I must say I wasn't really crazy about this one... The finished product didn't look very appealing, it sort of looked like dog food to me. I doubted the staleness of my brioche, I think it actually passed the staleness stage allthough it wasn't moldy yet. Finally I got over my aversion and tasted the pudding.
I thought it tasted okay, but unfortunately I must say this was not my favourite Dorie-recipe so far. Some people thought the pudding was soggy, but mine was actually quite dry. Maybe I overcooked it? Since I was making miniatures I only put them in the oven for 25 minutes. The pudding was very easy to make, but I don't think that I will make it again. I guess I'm simply not a bread pudding type of girl....
Check out what my fellow TWD-ers thought of the Four Star Chocolate Bread Pudding and stay tuned for next weeks Chocolate Cream Tart!!

I am a fan on vanilla custard bread pudding, but I really liked this one too. It was even better drizzled with chocolate sauce or cream anglaise!
Well, at least we can say we tried! Definitely not my favorite either. LOL about the dog food comment, though! :o)
I would rather have dry than soggy! Mine was so bad..
Oh I am sorry you didn't love it like I did. I can't believe you have never had bread pudding! I bet it would be better with the creme anglaise, but I didn't have time to make that.
Your pudding looks great!!
I'm sorry you didn't care for this. Hopefully next week will be better :)
I hope you'll try a lighter, more breakfast-y kind of bread pudding some time. Good job making it even though you'd never had it!
This was my first bread pudding and I agree the flavour lacked depth. But still, when the chocolate pudding and bread were warm...mmm.
This was not a typical bread pudding, but, that being said, bread puddings are not for everyone. On to the chocolate cream pie! I've already made it and it's one of Dorie's best recipes!!

Sorry you didn't love this -- but I think yours looks just perfect. Maybe you just aren't a bread pudding kind of girl. I enjoyed it, but would probably look for my chocolate fix elsewhere next time. I hear next week's tart is awesome!
One of the blogs I just read said it looked like 'vomit from Satan'.
Ha! It does kinda look like dog food doesn't it? That's what I thought too!
So sorry you didn't really like this recipe. I think I over baked mine too so it was a bit dry, but I am going to try again.
Sorry you didn't like it; at least you gave it a try.
Sorry you weren't a huge fan - it wasn't the most photogenic, was it? There's always next week!
Looks good to me!
I had never had bread pudding either but I really loved this recipe. Sorry it wasn't your favorite but at least you tried!
Sorry this one was a hit for you! It does look drier than others I've seen so maybe your stale bread soaked up too much of the custard? At least we get to make something new next week!
Hit or not, your pudding looks fabulous Marthe!
I drizzled chocolate on top and whipped cream but bread pudding is either a yeah or nay, and my hubby wouldn't try it. No worries, there are plenty of desserts waiting you in Dorie's book!
This wasn't my absolute fave either, but I am glad to have tried it. There is always next week!
I'm sorry that this wasn't your favorite. At least you can say you tried it!
I am sorry that you weren't a fan of this one! I hope that next week goes better for you!
You tried it. That's good. It does look tasty.
It seems like there was so much variation with this recipe... some dry, some soggy. They all look different too.
Well, better luck next week!
Hee hee, dog food! That's a great description of how this bread pudding looked. If it was too dry, you could try soaking the bread longer before baking, but it might just be that bread pudding's not your dessert. :)
